Notre Dame football: Golic honored for off-field work

Notre Dame fifth-year senior Mike Golic Jr., is one of 117 nominees for the All-state AFCA Good Works Team. The award recognizes players who are committed to making a difference in their community.

In order to meet the criteria set forth by Allstate and the AFCA, each player must be actively involved and committed to working with a charitable organization, service group or community service while maintaining a strong academic standing.

Golic, a guard/center from West Hartford, Conn., has been a leader in ND's The Bald & The Beautiful campaign, which helps raise funds and awareness for cancer research.
