After making unofficial visits all across the country this month,
five-star cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III released his top five on
Twitter Friday afternoon.
“Top 5) 1. Florida 2. Clemson 3. Vanderbilt 4. Miami 5. Notre Dame,
USF is not in my top 5 but still considering!” Hargreaves tweeted.
Hargreaves, a senior-to-be at Wharton High School in Tampa, Fla.,
visited the Irish on Monday and also visited Clemson and Vanderbilt,
among several other schools, this week.
Missing from Hargreaves’ list is USC, which Hargreaves had named his
leader following a visit last week. With USC limited to 18 commitments
in the 2013 class and having 16 verbally committed already, Hargreaves
may have had to adjust his timeline if he wanted to seriously consider
the Trojans. USC picked up five verbal commitments since Hargreaves
visited USC on July 11.
Hargreaves’ father, also named Vernon, is an assistant coach under
Skip Holtz at South Florida. Hargreaves reached more than 4,000
followers on Twitter on Friday in anticipation of his announcement.
In the 2013 class, Hargreaves is ranked as the No. 1 cornerback by
247Sports.com and No. 2 by Rivals.com.
